Lector Ministry

The Lector Ministry at St Joseph Church is a liturgical ministry. We strive to improve our proclamation of the Word of God through feedback, liturgical training, self-evaluation and prayer. We welcome those who wish to train with us through a comprehensive program designed to work with many schedules. Lectoring schedules are completely volunteer based. Lectors for the upcoming Sunday masses are encouraged to participate in a preparation meeting with the Deacons at 7pm on Mondays at the parish office.

If you are interested in being a lector or interested in attending the next training, please contact the lector lead at lectors@saintjosephmsj.org. If you are not a registered volunteer at Saint Joseph Parish, please fill out the Saint Joseph volunteer application form(click here to download) and submit it to the Parish office.

Lector Resources:

Scripture Study

Our Scripture Study team publishes Bible Study material every Monday for the upcoming Sunday readings.

Daily Readings

USCCB  is a great resource for anyone who is a lector or aspiring to be one. They have Daily Bible Readings, Podcast Audio and Videos by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

For our Youngest Lectors

The Kids’ Bulletin is a wonderful resource for Catholic kids to learn about the upcoming Sunday readings in an engaging way. Activities include a puzzle based on Bible readings and the life story of a saint whose feast day falls on that week.
