Neighborhood Outreach Project (NOP)

House in Fremont

Welcoming neighbors. Strengthening community. Serving with love.

We are a large and beautifully diverse parish. The Neighborhood Outreach Project (NOP) helps us truly know one another—bringing neighbors together, visiting those who are homebound or new to St. Joseph, and building small bridges of friendship that reflect Christ’s care.

What we do

  • Neighbor gatherings & hospitality – community events, parish festivals, and Hospitality Sundays that help us mingle across cultures and ages.

  • Visits & companioning – short, friendly visits to the elderly, the sick, and those who live alone.

  • Welcome & follow-up – greeting new parishioners and neighbors and helping them feel at home.

  • Care packets & notes – simple, handmade gifts and cards that carry warmth and prayer.

Highlights: Three summer BBQs, multiple Hospitality Sundays, and recurring visits to shut-ins and the elderly.

Who can participate

Anyone with a willing heart and a little time—individuals, couples, families, teens, and seniors. Most roles are short-commitment and schedule-friendly.

Ways to help now

  • Visitor/Companion – occasional home or porch visits (in pairs when possible).

  • Welcome & Hospitality – greet, serve, and tidy at parish events.

  • Creative Prep – assemble gift packets, write cards, tie ribbons, prep small treats.

  • Events & Logistics – set-up/tear-down, table hosting, and simple coordination.

  • E-Mail Captains – communicate, invite or remind their neighbors of activities and events by e-mail

“Whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.” —Mt 25:40
