Matthew 23:1-12

Matthew’s gospel epitomizes the very core of Christianity.  The message resonates loud and clear, defining and affirming Jesus’ message, His directive to all humanity.  Jesus walks among us.  He is present and shows himself in our everyday lives, particularly here at Saint Joseph in our fellowship and camaraderie with our leaders, peers, colleagues, and all the ministries and parishioners we collaborate with and serve on a daily basis.  We are fortunate and blessed to be led and mentored by someone who lives these very words, incorporates these basic values and practices exactly what he preaches every day, every minute.  I am reminded at all turns and in all circumstances my place in the journey and the sheer vitality of the tasks and responsibilities I share with those around me.  I relate to this gospel in so many ways as it expresses with certainty the principles and values we are called to demonstrate and cultivate in ourselves and others.  Our very substance and foundation are clearly defined and portrayed.  There is no ambiguity.  We are called to serve one God, one Father with humility and grace.  The message could not be more positive or more driven and illustrates the absolute model and trajectory for achieving our final and eternal destination.  Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam.
