Matthew 22:34-40

I likened today’s reading with one of the popular songs titled “Greatest Love of All”. As the song goes “… learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all”. Loving ourselves is an acknowledgment of our existence and in a way thanking God for the greatest gift on earth. God is Love and loving God with All our heart, All our soul and All our mind puts us in the center of doing what is good not only for ourselves but for other people and all living creatures. This captures the entirety of the Ten Commandments.

It may sound simple but in reality this brings so many challenges. We can easily fail by not giving it our “All”. We are deeply rooted in today’s events and if we are not deliberate in our actions, we can easily just go with the flow and not give of ourselves in service to others.

It is equally important to accept our failures but strive to be better. God is present in our fellowmen and by reflecting in today’s gospel we can recommit ourselves in doing charity, giving shelter to the homeless, visiting the sick and giving more of ourselves.

Earthly happiness and riches will fade away after we die but in the presence of God, what we’ve done here in this world will matter. We are a gift from God and we are so blessed. Loving God is the most beautiful thing that a person can experience. Let us all say “ Lord Jesus, I love you with all my mind, my heart,, my body and my soul.” Thank you for the greatest love of All.
