St. Martha Guild
We are beginning a new ministry of simple service—the St. Martha Guild—bringing together parishioners who would like to help care for and prepare our Main Church for weekend liturgies. When Jesus came to the home of Martha and Mary, Martha welcomed Him and set about caring for her guest. There is something beautiful in that simple act of service: seeing what needs to be done and quietly doing it with love. Each Saturday after the 8:00 AM Mass, members of the St. Martha Guild help prepare our Main Church for the weekend—giving the floor a quick mopping, checking the restrooms, straightening what needs attention and tending to the little things that make our parish home ready to welcome all who enter its doors. Those attending the Saturday morning Mass are especially invited to stay and lend a hand, but you do not need to attend that Mass to be part of the Guild. Come when you can and help where you can. With several hands, the work takes less than an hour, and all supplies are provided. There are many ways to serve our parish, and sometimes the simplest are among the most meaningful. A straightened hymnal, a clean floor, a welcoming church—small acts of care that prepare a beautiful place where, just a few hours later, our parish family gathers to receive Jesus in the Eucharist. See a need? Lend a hand. St. Martha, pray for us—and put us to work! Interested in joining the St. Martha Guild? Email liturgy@saintjosephmsj.org
