Click Here to OSV Cash donations DONATE NOW The St. Joseph Homeless Outreach Ministry (HOM), a new ministry commissioned on December 8, 2024, extends its services to individuals living in tents, sleeping bags, vehicles, encampments, parks, and on the streets. Founded by long-time parishioner Stan Peters, HOM began as an outreach operated from his home for over two decades before becoming an official part of St. Joseph Parish. HOM procures provisions, packs them into grocery bags, and distributes them to the needy on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays each week. We operate from the newly renovated Carriage House, now known as the St. Joseph Workshop. For many years, our parish has generously supported St. Vincent de Paul through the 5th Sunday second collection, helping to fulfill the Works of Mercy. With the addition of the Homeless Outreach Ministry, both ministries continue these vital works of mercy, and we will now alternate the 5th Sunday second collection between SVDP and HOM. Please look for announcements regarding collection dates in the bulletin and expect envelopes in the mail. A Gift That Keeps Giving Back
Your gift is used to buy groceries throughout the week, and they are bagged into grocery bags every Sunday after 10 am Mass at the St. Joseph’s Workshop and handed over to the unhoused in Fremont three days every week.
In return, the recipients reward us with a smile laced with expressions of being respected, cared for and appreciated. We return with our hearts filled with a sense of satisfaction that we have done a good deed every time we go out. All these rewards and the feeling of satisfaction belongs to you as well, for your generous donations make the Act of Mercy possible.

Our Homeless Outreach ministry has been delivering corporal works of mercy to our neighbors on the streets. We deliver 80 grocery bags filled with shelf-stable and prepackaged food three days a week to homeless persons living mostly in the Irvington District of Fremont. Volunteers from our Parish shop, pack, and help deliver the grocery bags every week.
