🌟Refugee Family Update 🌟
December 12, 2025: Rohullah’s family arrived September of 2024. He found a job at a hotel and rode the bus to work. His wife got the boys to school by bus. Today they have a car, but with it comes monthly insurance payments and buying gas. Essential items—such as better blankets, winter jackets, and soccer shoes—are currently beyond their budget. We were grateful to find blankets in the shed, and a generous donor provided soccer shoes for the boys (4th and 7th grade). Their daughter is now in 1st grade and little Mikael is running around the apartment.

🔥Urgent Request:
We are currently seeking winter jackets in the following sizes:

  • Men: Large and Medium
  • Boys: Medium
  • Girls: Size 6 or 8
  • Toddlers: Mikael – 2T
  • Ladies: Medium

The shed is now completely out of blankets (twin and queen sizes). Additional families who arrived this year still need winter essentials. Blankets and jackets are our highest-priority needs at this time. If you have any of these items to donate, please contact Don Kaefer for more information: 510-427-3007 or donaldkaefer@gmail.com

We hope you were able to stop in during Hospitality Sunday to see pictures of some of the families we have been able to support in the past. Recently we brought two dads, Aref and Fardin to Karma Bikes to get transportation they can use until they have their CA driver’s license and a car for their families. Our only needs for these two most recent families are computers and Smart TVs. The items we need for the shed include twin sheets and comforters, pillows, blenders, hand mixers, mixing bowls, measuring cups and spoons, broom and dustpan, bucket and mops, bath towels, floor and table lamps. Your support of this ministry has allowed these families to focus on jobs and paying rent, not on basic living needs. Thank you for continuing to make this possible.  For a more complete list of items, please contact Don Kaefer at 510-427-3007 or donaldkaefer@gmail.com.

Now that we have been able to help Aref’s family, our shed is looking spacious and there are basic items we need for the next family. Twin sheets and blankets are very low and pillows also. Kitchen items: blender, hand mixers, manual can openers, potato peelers, wooden spoons, 8”x8”, 9”x9” and 9”x13” baking pans and kitchen towels. Bath items: Hand towels and face cloths, toilet bowl brush. Cleaning: vacuum, broom and dust pan, mop and bucket. We are out of all of these items. We have one table lamp remaining. Your past donations have allowed us to serve these families who come with only a suitcase of clothing to start a new life in their new country. As always, donations can be dropped in the Parish Office.
