Exciting Addition to the Mission Church
Mater Dolorosa (Mother of Sorrows) is a dramatic painting that hung in the Baptistry of the original 1809 adobe church. Miraculously, it survived the earthquake of 1868 which destroyed the church. Extensive treatment is required to restore its original beauty. Upon completion, Mater Dolorosa will be displayed within the Mission San Jose church for all to admire.
