2025 Parish Financial Summary

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

As we refl ect on the many blessings of 2025, we would like to express our sincere gratitude for your continued generosity and support of our parish. Your faithful stewardship enables our parish to remain a vibrant place of worship, faith formation, and service to those in need.

In the spirit of transparency and responsible stewardship, we are pleased to share a brief fi nancial summary of our parish for the year 2025.

Thanks to the continued generosity of our parishioners and the careful management of expenses by parish staff , the parish completed 2025 with an operating surplus of $167,676. This is very encouraging news and indicates that we have fully recovered from the operating defi cits experienced in the years following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Total operating income for the year was $1,651,640, which was $120,315 above budget. Sunday off ertory collections totaled $1,352,144, representing 82% of our total income. The remaining 18% came from donations and gifts (designated for specifi c projects), ministerial fees, interest income, and other sources, including net proceeds from special events, the new second collections for parish maintenance and the diocesan assessment, and ministry-led fundraising initiatives.

Although not part of our operating budget, we are also grateful for the many generous parishioners who helped our parish reach 100% of our 2025 Diocesan Bishop’s Appeal goal, contributing $72,201.99.

Operating expenses were carefully managed throughout the year. Total operating expenditures were $1,483,964, which was $92,004 below budget. These expenses include costs associated with parish staff and ministries, liturgy, insurance, utilities, building and grounds maintenance, and donor-funded projects and improvements. The parish also fully met its fi nancial obligations to the diocese, including participation in a new shared hospital ministry supporting parishes in our local deanery.

The year 2025 was also a transition year in pastoral leadership. Throughout this transition, parish operations remained stable and continued to move forward through thoughtful planning, responsible stewardship, and your continued generosity. The steady life of the parish refl ects the strength of our community and our shared commitment to the mission of the Church.

As your Parish Finance Council, we are deeply grateful for the many ways you sustain and strengthen the life of our parish. Your generosity, faithfulness, and continued commitment make possible everything we share at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mission San José, and the Diocesan Shrine of St. Joseph—our liturgies, ministries, outreach eff orts, and the care of these sacred places entrusted to us.

Yours in Christ,
St. Joseph Parish Finance Council
