Our Lady of Fátima

Our Lady of Fátima is one of the most honored and beloved Marian apparitions in the Catholic Church. In 1917, during World War I, the Blessed Mother appeared six times to three shepherd children – Lúcia dos Santos and her cousins Jacinta and Francisco Marto – in the town of Fátima, Portugal. The apparitions, which took place on the 13th of each month from May to October, conveyed messages of prayer, penance, and conversion, as well as prophetic warnings of future wars and suffering. The most famous miracle associated with Our Lady of Fátima is the “Miracle of the Sun,” which occurred on October 13, 1917, and was witnessed by thousands of people.
