Guided and Group Tours
For students researching their 4th grade Mission Project, the Gift Shop provides a packet of historical information available online.
If there is a religious ceremony in progress, visitors must sit quietly at the back of the church until the ceremony is completed.
Visitors with disabilities will find all facilities at Mission San Jose, i.e. the museum, church, cemetery, and gardens, generally accessible.
We are closed on Easter, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.
Group Tours
Guided group tours for 10 or more people, or in languages other than English, may be available by special arrangement only. Maximum of 60 allowed.
Email the details of your special arrangement to mission@saintjosephmsj.org.
There are no refunds on cancellations or no shows. If you need to change your tour date, please contact the Mission office no later than 24 hours before your scheduled tour at mission@saintjosephmsj.org.
- The Guided Half Tour special arrangement is available only from Wednesday to Sunday**.

Guided Half Tours
Docent‑Led Half Tour
Experience the history and beauty of the Mission through a guided Half Tour offered twice each month:
- 2nd Sunday at 1:00 PM*
- The preceding Saturday at 11:00 AM
This guided experience lasts approximately 1.5 to 2 hours and includes visits to:
- The Diocesan Shrine of St. Joseph (also known as the Old Mission San José Church)
- The Mission Museum (also known as the Convento)
- The historic cemetery
- The patio garden
\* Sunday tours feature a Spanish organ interlude, performed by music director Ron McKean when available.
- $20 per adult over 12 years of age
- $15 per child age 6-12 years of age
- Free/child under 6 years of age
