2025 Las Posadas

For 42 years, Las Posadas has been a Christmas-time tradition at Mission San Jose. It reminds us of the journey of Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem and provides the local community music and geniality in the days leading up to Christmas.
For nine evenings, starting on December 15th, we meet on the porch of the Old Mission San Jose Museum at 6:00pm and process to a local business or site within two blocks singing Christmas carols as we go. A family is selected to carry the hand-carved statue of Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus. Once we arrive, we ask for room at the Inn. The host turns us away but eventually welcomes us in to take shelter.
Unique entertainment lasting 30-45 minutes is arranged for each night by Fremont Cultural Arts Council, and we conclude with refreshments provided by the host business. On the final night, Mission San Jose invites everyone into the Old Mission Church to enjoy a program of Christmas carols performed live on our Rosales organ, followed by a piñata on the Museum porch for the children.
December 15 to 23, 2025
Please gather at 6:00pm on the Mission San Jose Museum porch, 43300 Mission Blvd. Wear warm clothing and we suggest a headlamp or flashlight to read the music as we process. We hope you will join us rain or shine for this no-cost celebration!
