Simbang Gabi 2025

Simbang Gabi, meaning “Night Mass,” is a cherished Filipino Catholic tradition that consists of nine consecutive days of Mass celebrated in joyful anticipation of the birth of Jesus Christ. Rooted in the Philippines and dating back more than four centuries to the time of Spanish missionaries, Simbang Gabi is traditionally celebrated in the early morning hours from December 16 through December 24. The devotion reflects the deep faith, perseverance, and spiritual discipline of the Filipino people, as the faithful rise before dawn to prepare their hearts for Christmas through prayer, the Eucharist, and sacrificial devotion.

Beyond its liturgical significance, Simbang Gabi is also rich in cultural expression. Churches are often adorned with paról—traditional Filipino star lanterns symbolizing the Star of Bethlehem—and the celebrations are marked by warm hospitality, music, and community fellowship. Following Mass, families and parishioners customarily gather to share traditional Filipino foods as a sign of gratitude and unity. More than a novena, Simbang Gabi is a living expression of faith passed from generation to generation, uniting culture and devotion as the faithful journey together toward the joy of Christ’s Nativity.

Simbang Gabi Mass Intentions
Mass intention forms are available in the pews throughout the nine-day Simbang Gabi novena. Parishioners are invited to place their prayer intentions before the Lord through the offering of the Holy Mass. In keeping with the beauty of this tradition, those requesting an intention are reverently invited to bring their prayer to the altar during the Presentation of the Gifts, uniting their personal petitions with the Sacrifice of the Eucharist each evening.

Please join us Monday, December 15 through Tuesday, December 23 to celebrate this cherished Filipino tradition. Time/location schedule below. All are welcome! “Maraming salamat po at malugod naming kayong inaanyayahan!”

Simbang Gabi Mass intention forms are now available in the pews throughout the Simbang Gabi novena masses. We invite you to bring your prayer intention envelopes to the altar during offertory for a special blessing  during the Mass.
