Job Description

The Director of Evangelization and Family of Faith Ministry shall be responsible for cultivating the culture of family and faith which is rooted in the Catholic faith and Gospel values. As a practicing Catholic in good standing and faithful disciple of the Lord, the Director needs to exemplify the zeal for evangelization (also re-evangelization) and the ardent desire to faithfully pass on the Faith in responding to the Lord’s great commission: To make disciples of all people.

Essential Job Functions (Responsibilities):

• Implement and oversee the following programs:
  • Family of Faith Ministry for Preschool to grade 6,
  • Sacramental Preparation (First Reconciliation and Communion)
  • RCIA and RCIC (children)
  • AFF for children with special needs, including Chinese and Vietnamese community and SPRED for adults,
• Recruit, train and support catechists, aides and other volunteers for all programs.
• Teach and guide children to understand the foundation and essential teachings of the Catholic faith and help them to grow in their love for God.
• Invite and encourage parents and children to attend and participate in Sunday liturgies and parish events.
• Provide resources and opportunities for catechists, children and parents to grow and deepen their Catholic faith and their relationship with God and the Church.
• Prepare parents and children sessions and coordinate special FFM events, gatherings, retreats, and prayer services for parents, children and families.
• Regularly communicate with catechists and parents regarding the importance of practicing faith and remind them of the FFM and parish events.
• Form parent support groups to accompany each other in faith and life.
• Promote FFM and events in the parish bulletin or announcement at Mass and update the programs on the parish website.
• Organize and administer the 2-year Sacramental Program (First Reconciliation & Holy Eucharist) for both St. Joseph School and the FFM that include planning and coordinating parent meetings, parent’s sessions, retreats, practices, Masses, and/or receptions…etc.
• Plan FFM calendar; prepare schedules for classes for all programs. (Reserve School’s facilities with the principal and reserve the parish facilities with the parish secretary before any scheduling takes place)
• Research and select appropriate materials, resources and media for catechists, children and parents in all programs.
• Assure the fulfilling of our Diocesan mandatory fingerprinting and safe environment training for all volunteers/catechists.
• Keep current in developments/changes with Diocesan policies as they relate to Safe Environment, Evangelization, Faith Formation and Sacramental practices.
• Prepare a yearly budget.
• Attend and participate deanery and staff meetings.
• Work, communicate and collaborate with other staff members.
• Be present and available for the parish community at large.

Required Skills

• Good with both verbal and written communication, organization, and technical skills, including computer and Microsoft Office.
• Prefer bilingual and experienced working and serving in a multicultural community of faith.
• Familiar with social media and communication platforms such as Zoom, Google, Facebook, and Flocknotes
• Master’s Degree in Religious Studies or related to Evangelization, Faith Formation field, and parish experience. Proven experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
• This is a full-time position, section M-5 Exempt, and report to the Pastor.
