Volunteer Coaches & Coordinators

Our team of volunteer coaches and coordinators go through Safety Training and Fingerprinting as mandated by the Oakland Diocese. All are volunteers. They are not paid for their time. They mentor their athletes to promote the sport of track & field and instill confidence to kids from Kindergarten all the way to 8th grade. We welcome you to join our team.

Carlos Mangrobang
CYO Certified, SJ Parish Coordinator

Coach Carlos has been serving CYO Track for 14 years. Pulling double duties, he coordinates the program for St. Joseph and coaches all grade level as well. He has 1 more kid left in the program today. During the meets, he takes on a larger role in staging relays and all the running events. He is also part of the data team responsible for the meet timing system. When asked about CYO, he says, "as long as God gives me strength to physically run the program for the parish, I am willing to do his will."


George Fontelera
CYO Certified, Coach 3-8

Coach George is a spartan athlete. He will be focusing on relays, shot put, strength and conditioning for our team. He has two children participating in the program currently.

Rudy Malanum
CYO Certified, Coach 3-8

Coach Rudy comes to us with extensive experience in physical training. He is CPR certified and a former US Marine. He is new to our program with 2 boys participating. Coach Rudy will be reponsible for conditioning, and strength development.

Ray Mangrobang
CYO Certified, Assistant Coach 3-8

Coach Ray participated in CYO since tiny-tots days, all the way till 8th grade. He is now a junior in high school. He coaches tetherball and assists in both sprints and relays. He also coaches K-2 demonstrating tips and techniques.
